| OK Bill let's see? Our Grandpa was grandpa Dick. Now that's brilliant sez Bill. Well it was sez me. Grandpa Dick lived with Auntie Myrtle when we were kids. You know at the Patza home across from the Catholic Church in Egg Harbor. That's right sez Bill, now you have it. Continue... AUGUST H. "DICK" WOLDT was born January 24, 1887 and he died November 25, 1959 in Door County, I think at the Sturgeon Bay hospital. He married ANNA HERBST on August 23, 1911 in I think Jacksonport. Grandma was the daughter of NICK HERBST who was the youngest son of Valentine Herbst and MINNIE LAUTENBACH, so considering Minnie was the daughter of Gustav Lautenbach and Caroline Schultz that makes your Mom (Clara) and my Dad (Fritz) cousins to Don and Les Lautenbach the sons or Casey. Right? Yup, I think you have it Rich. Grandma was born June 27, 1889, and died November 22, 1981 at the Dorchester in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. You must remember she divorced Grandpa Dick and married Frank Hemple and they lived on Maple Street in Sturgeon Bay, where I was taken two days after I was born and lived upstairs until Dad (Fritz) came back from the service. Grandma and Grandpa Frank are both buried in Sturgeon Bay and Grandpa Dick is buried in Egg Harbor down the hill from Dad, "Fritz" i.e. Roland August Ernest Woldt. | The way I remember it, August Woldt married Bertha and beget Herman, Julius, Otto, August (Grandpa Dick), Emma, Lydia, and Charles. Than Julius married Annie, Otto married Mable and beget Ellen, Alvin, Laurence, and Eva. Is that about right? I think you have it sez Bill. | ("Julius Woldt and his first wife Anna inherited the August Woldt, Sr. homestead. After his first wife died, Julius married a woman named Mary. Julius and Mary had one son. Julius sold the homestead farm but I am not sure of the time frame. Julius and Mary moved to Sturgeon Bay where Julius worked in the shipyards. They lived a few blocks from the Sturgeon Bay Canal. Their small son fell into the canal and drowned."). Charles born 1870 and died 1913 was the youngest son of August and Bertha. Charles is buried in the Egg Harbor Cemetery next to August his brother near Highway 42. Lydia and Uncle Doc Schmidt had on child that died at birth. I think Uncle Doc's father's name was Sax Weiner born in Germany in 1881? Doc and Lydia are buried in West Jacksonport Cemetery. I think Otto was born in Pomerania Germany in 1876 and Married Mable Calhoon on October 15, 1903. Otto and Mabel beget Ellen, Alvin, Lawrence, and Eva. Emma was born in Europe, Germany in 1881 and immigrated to the US in 1885. She married Rudolph "Adolph" Lautenbach on September 11, 1912. He was born in 1877 the son of Gustave Lautenbach and Caroline Shultz. Adolph and Emma beget Stanley (Uncle Casey) and Elroy. They are buried in the West Jacksonport cemetery. Herman was born January 13, 1883 in Judville, Wisconsin and died in December 1964. He married Hulde "Hilda" Olson on May 5, 1915. They are buried in the Judville Lutheran Church cemetery. Herman and Hilda beget Ruby, Roger, and Virginia. Virginia married Richard "Dick" Weisgerber and beget Judy (Wayne Voite), Valery, and Richard. MYRTLE (WOLDT) PATZA: The way we have it figured, Anna married August ("Grandpa Dick") and beget... Myrtle Woldt Patza (born May 31, 1912 - died December 30, 2002) who married Benjamin R. Patza (born July 9, 1909 - died October 2, 1982) and beget Gloria (born May 17, 1932 - died November 26, 2000). Gloria married Bert Thorp and beget by adoption Bert D. (born February 18, 1953) who married Patricia Elston and beget Megan Louise (born October 5, 1987). That was easy! Myrtle and Ben Patza than beget... Bruce on June 17, 1935 who married Jane Herlache in '54 and went on to beget Robert in 55, William in 56, David in 59, Daniel in 62, Scott in 65, Thomas in 66, Ann Lydia in 68, and Timothy in 72. Way to go Bruce and Jane! Than, Robert Patza beget... Austin in '82 and William married Cindy Storley and beget Jennifer in 78. David married Karen Wiesie and beget Sarah in 77 and Michael in '81. Daniel married Holly Holzem in '89 and beget Cole in '92. Scott Lloyd married Jessica Main in '88 and beget Shane in '87 and Alexandra in '93. Thomas not to be outdone married Mary Ristow in '92 and beget Kay Leigh according to the records in 1933. Now that was a trick. Ann Lydia married Daniel Bluma in '91 and beget "Ashley in '85 and Tony Mach in 85? And finally, Timothy married Jennifer Kurczek in '91 and, you guest it, beget Ellison Jo in '92. Sounds like the boys take after the ole man. Thomas Patza... (born May 17, 1939) married Mary Hebbering (born August 1942) and beget... Michelle in '69 and Nichole in 76. Michelle married David Skaja in 95 and beget Mason David on March 15, 2000. Lee David Patza... (born January 3, 1944) married Christine Tryba on October 21, 1967 (I was best man) and beget... Jeffrey on January 6, 1970 and Andrea on April 24, 1973. After Christine passed away, Lee, married Patricia "Pat" Thompson on July 19, 2003 and moved to Washington State after retiring from the Milwaukee Journal on May 25, 2007. Pat was born July 21, 1956. Trying to handle a women that young I hope he doesn't run out of oxygen. So that takes care of the Patzas. Bye the way, they grew up in the house across from the Catholic church in Egg Harbor. Aunt Clara married
Dad and had my brothers and sisters. Bill sez Rich, there you go
again. I told you we need names. "Oky Doooky!" Rich sez Bill, "get me
another beer and I'll start over." Clara Woldt, that's my Mom married Levi Becker (born May 14, 1902) and beget Lloyd on January 23, 1931, and Shirley on November 4, 1934, and Wayne on March 25, 1937, and Wallace William (that's me) on October 7, 1942, and John Calvin on January 15, 1949, and Paul on June 14, 1953. Hay Rich Bill sez, "Did you know John was born in the piano room at your Ma and Pa's house in Fish Creek". Yup! I sez. In fact I named him. Your Dad came out-a-the piano room holding John and said to Dad "Now how we going to come up with a name for this one? Just than I said "I got-a-go to the John!" Be damned if Levi didn't misunderstand and named his fifth kid John. So Bill, than what happened? Well Lloyd married Betty Jo Gerringer and beget Steven on July 13, 1956, and Terrance Lynn on March 1960, and Lisabeth Denise on October 30, 1962. Than Terrance beget Justin Qual on June 24, 1989, and Lisabeth beget Zachary Levi on May 4, 1962. Now Shirley, our only sister. You know, Shirley lived with your Ma and Dad in Fish Creek so she could go to high school and baby sit for you and Christine. Yes I sez, they didn't have school buses in those days I guess. Dippers either! Well Shirley went on to marry Robert Hoag Senior in 1992. Unfortunately Bob just passed away in '06. Bill, What about Wayne? Well Wayne married Marlene and beget Terrance on August 6, 1959, Denise Lisabeth on October 30, 1962, and Marla on June 25, 1966. Marla married John Stenzel and now lives on Washington Island. Ya, I know Bill, get me another beer an I'll tell you why she's one of my favorites. OK Wallace, what about you? Well Rich, I was in the eight grade and had a hard time spelling "Wallace William" so I went out to Bley's Corner one night and the next thing I know everyone was calling me Bill. Well I guess no one at home in Baileys Harbor caught on so it stuck. Anyway, I married the love of my life Mary Jane Michaelis in 1965. Mary, could you get me another beer? It took us a bit but we got to begetting after a bit of practice and had Debora Lynn on March 28, 1967 and Sharon Marie on August 28, 1969, and William Howard on May 24, 1971. Let's see? '67 - '69 - '71? That means once we began begging we beget every other year. Pretty good AH? Well, our oldest Deborah Lynn married Douglas Meyer and beget Jared James on August 28, 1997 and Sharon Marie married Kevin Brungraber and beget Derrick Arthur on June 23, 1997. William Howard born in '71 found himself a nice girl who was born on May 10, 1968 and married her in 1999. That's about it for the Becker begetting. You better get me another beer, I'm tiered just talking about begetting now days. Wait a minute I sez, What about John and brother Paul? I remember that little curly headed Paul. He sure was a cute baby. Bill, Did I ever tell you how my sister Wendy likes to kid Paul about play doctor? Ya-U-betcha! They use to go up stairs at your house above the kitchen stove. Well you know that hole in the floor to let the heat upstairs? We'll I guess from there they could keep an eye on the adults. Well, I'm sure it's all kidding as they could have been much more that 5 or 6. but they sure have fun kidding about those days when every Monday our parents played cards at the Beckers, every Wednesday at the Woldts and on Friday, we'd all meet at the Piggly Wiggle in Sturgeon Bay for the week's shopping. Those were good times to grow up. I remember Grandma telling me how it took all day to go from Jacksonport to Sturgeon Bay to bring home their dining room set. I think we better get back to business. What about John and Paul's begetting? Well, John married Sheree Leigh Henry and they beget Jennifer in 1972 and Michael John on February 15, 1976. Michael and Erin Conger married and beget Taylor David on December 8, 1995, and Siera Renee on June 8, 1998. Now Paul married Randi Neal and beget Jamie on March 6, 1986 and Tyler on December 7, 1988. I think I got most of this straight. So get me another beer and you tell me about the begetting done by Uncle Fritz (Roland) and Aunt Corrine!. |

ROLAND "FRITZ" WOLDT: OK
Bill sez Rich! I guess it's my turn: Well you
understand I wasn't at the wedding but according to Aunt Myrtle, Dad,
Roland August who was born September 16, 1919 and died from a massive
heart attack on August 17, 1974 when he was only 57 years, 11 months,
and one day. I tell people he died in
a parade playing his boom-boom fiddle with Matt Ostrand during the
Firemen's Festival in Fish Creek on
August 17, 1974, but he really made it home to our Lull-Abi Motel in Egg
Harbor before he had a massive heart attack.
Anyway, Dad married Corrine Schnieder (Bye the way, mom comes from a family of 14 so that's a really big branch). Anyway, Fritz and Corrine beget Christine in November 1942, Richard (that's me) on April 21, 1945, Gwenn Marie (Wendy) on June 7, 1951, and Kevin Roy on January 31, 1959. Then Christine married Michael Tierney and beget Richard "Rick" on August 23, 1969. (I was in Viet Nam at the time so Rick was named after me and I became his God Father). I married Emily Fisher on August 19, 1989 and we're going to start having kids this year because I'll be 62 and we can raise them on Social Security. Obviously Wendy learned a lot from Paul cause she married Joseph Doherty and beget Ryan on December 31, 1978, Meaghan Katelan on June 26, 1980, Collin George on July 1, 1983, and Evan Joseph on February 9, 1986. Evan is also my God Father. Kevin Roy married Kimberly McCormick and beget Cameron John on December 24, 1989 (Cameron is also my God Child) and Callyn Corrine on December 28, 1992. ofn married Mom, Corrine Bernice Shnieder on December 16 |

| JULIUS ROY "DECKER" WOLDT: Hay Decker: It's Bill and me again. Got a minute to fill us in on your begetting? OK boys. I spent a lot of time on the ball field but while I was in the south I met and married the loves of my life; Eloise (.Dorothy Eloise Hall Bowen Woldt), Russel Bowen-Woldt and Sandra Bowen-Woldt. Eloise went home by God on September 27, 2006 and I'm too sad to talk about much right now. Please print her obituary and tell everyone we planned to have a memorial but will wait until another time. She and I will be together in heaven and our ashes will be next to Dad in the Egg Harbor cemetery just down the hill from Fritz. | ||
| BETTY (WOLDT) BASTAR: And then there was Aunt Betty and Uncle Roger who beget Kenny, Sandy, and Bryan. Let me give you the detail. Elizabeth (Betty) Woldt was born on January 5, 1925 and died on her birthday January 5, 1989. I remember that crazy day as we were all told she was doing fine after I think it was a heart attack. Anyway she was in the hospital and I remember Aunt Myrtle was coming up the elevator to visit her when she suffer a massive heart attack and died. Anyway, Betty married Roger H. Bastar in 1947. Roger bye the way was born on March 20, 1916 and died on December 7, 1977. Betty and Roger beget Kenneth C. Baster on March 15, 1948, Sandra on September 28, 1951, and Bryan on September 8, 1965. Kenneth married Kathryn Herrbold, Sandra married Preston Jones Junior in 1973, and Bryan married Amy Elleson in 1991. Sandra and Preston beget Andrea Leigh on February 10, 1977, and Amber Elizabeth on April 10, 1983. Bryan and Amy beget ...(I talked to Bryan tonight and forgot to get the details.... |
